Across Germany and we change our plan!

For nearly a week since we spent the Netherlands / Germany border. We are currently in our second camping since we left, just to enjoy a laundry and a WiFi (somewhat random, but WiFi anyway). This time, at 19 euros, camping gave us a small knot in the throat, but the water is warm, so it softens manners!

Meeting with Henk & Monique, Nazca Ligfietsen

Spent the night in our campsite country, we rise slowly and take the road to our two kilometers separating us from Henk & Monique. This camp will have cost us 8 euros. In Holland there are many minicamping that are not very expensive. This is a secondary activity for most. For nearly a year since we acquired our tandem, hoping he carries us and supports us as far as we want.

Meppel, total immersion.

So here we are on Saturday morning, in our forest (it is in this context that we spent most of our bivouacs since we spent the Belgian border). As expected, it is the cries of children who woke us up, enough to give you energy to start a beautiful day on the bike. The weather is fairly mild with us these days and I hope it will continue like that!

Along the Dutch coast

This begins with the City of Glass (pronounced Veeeeeeeere). One thing is certain, the bike ride in the Netherlands proves to be a treat, it's not bike paths, but full-fledged roads, real route for bicycles. And you only need to read the signs to cross the whole country! It's still a great common sense. Let us not stone, but we must recognize that it is only here that the bike paths are priorities, it is more reassuring and conduct of motorists is relaxed! These cycling routes are shared with scooters, not disturbing, but be careful however to electric scooters (the mirrors are essential). The advantage is that there is no concern over barriers (although kloklo becomes expert in dismantling barriers).

From Brussels

We take the start, coming out of Brussels, pass the 5000km cycled on the bike (the meter takes into account our return to Portugal) and sleep in a vacant lot near a bike trail towards Holland. A fine and delicate rain (well, more or less), just wake up the next day. As we will need more than a week to reach Henk and Monique Nazca (known our next stop), we do not anchor ourselves too, and decide to wait until the rain passes. I also want to sew the mini flags to the big.

Departure from France, for real!

After a few weeks off to wait for receiving parcels (new tires for trailers, extra battery for the phone ...), use the sewing machine to optimize our tent, make a poncho / tarp, strengthen our saddlebags and enjoy our family, we are ready for departure!

Back to the origins, the Nord-Pas-de-Calais !

The night was not so agitated it, just rain events. We are still far from the storm! And that was the case two days that followed. Every morning we question the amount of rain that contain these gray clouds. Can we rethink the announced storm and we conclude with the decision to stay the day. Still no storm, but episodes of rainfall that cause us to entrench ourselves in the tent, we "sleep" a little, watching some movies and we are moving mostly on our stock of handmade jewelry by inventing new models. When rain deign to stop a little, we take a walk outside, we take the opportunity to get to know our neighbors and pet the goats.

Eco-Ideas for our house # 1 - In the Haut-Jura

Do you remember when we arrived to Pontarlier? We were visiting Alain Laurent, Rosa & Shona (see article on Atoocycles on whom you can rely for recumbent equipment or cycling). And in view of the tricks is their home, I had to write you an article, it could be useful to others! The purpose of this article is not to demand a way to simply observe certain design points of this house according to its environment, to see the ecological and economic characteristics and give ideas to those who would do likewise.
